This 1931 Brunner Winkle Bird CK has tons of neat history. Powered by a B-5 Kinner, a Holley 419 carburetor, with an aluminum fuel tank, and a new wooden Sensenich propeller. Over all the airplane is in great condition. The Bird was know to be very forgiving, easy to fly and has one of the lowest stall speeds. Those are surely some of the reasons it was the aircraft of choice for Charles Lindbergh when it came to teaching his wife Anne Morrow Lindbergh how to fly. Originally the airplane was purchased during the prohibition to run booze down to Long island. After being built in Brooklyn, the airplane went from one grass air strip to the next. 5 owners, 5 grass air strips on long island. Restored in 1981 by John Talmage, former president of the cradle of aviation museum and legendary aviator, engineer, and farmer. Airplane includes an original Jump seat for the front to seat a 3rd passenger, a tow bar for the tail wheel, and some pictures and paper work. |
