Airplane was declared surplus by the US Air Force and went to a Chicago Vocational School until the late 80s. Aircraft restoration was completed July 15, 1995 at approximately 1700 hours total time by private owner.

Restoration Completed in 1995. All New Wood in wings, new cables, wiring and hardware. Covered in Ceconite 102, instruments overhauled.

RESTORATION DETAILS:
Fuselage: Covered in Ceconite 103, painted in Randolph “True Blue” All new flying wires, all sheet metal flat panel were fabricated as new. All new plumbing, wiring and cabling were installed.
Wings: Completely disassembled, wing panel metal pieces were cleaned and repaired as necessary. All new leading and trailing edges were fabricated. Ribs were repaired or built new as needed. All four wing tips were rebuilt. Wing walk areas were rebuilt. Wing spars cleaned, sanded and varnished. All 4 wing panels, tail and center section recovered with Stits Poly Fiber Covering D-103. Wings painted orange yellow #140. Logos and numbers painted with blue G5001, red G7037 and white.
