| Overview | |
| Take a look at this beautiful Mark 21 Mooney. This 4 seat retractable gear aircraft has been meticulously maintained by the owner who is also an A&P/IA so nothing has been overlooked ensuring this plane is in great shape and ready to take you on your next aviation adventure. During the late 1940s and early 1950s, Al Mooney was developing the four-seater M20. When the company moved to Kerrville, Texas, from Wichita, Kansas, the development of the M20 sped up. On September 3, 1953, the Mooney M20 took its first flight and was certified on August 24, 1955. The Mooney M20 series are piston-powered, propeller-driven, four-seater aircraft that feature tricycle gear and low wings. Except for early models of the M20 being built with wooden framed wings and tails, M20s are built with aluminum wing skin and constructed completely in metal. On October 20, 1961, the Mooney Mark 21 (M20C), received its certification and was based on its predecessor the M20B. Upgrades on the Mark 21 included better engine cooling from the reduced cowl flap openings, a new battery access door, a new instrument panel layout, and a Hanlon and Wilson exhaust system. A total of 2,422 Mark 21s were produced between 1962 and 1978. | |
